Allyson Bolton

President + Owner

President and Founder Allyson Bolton is a woman of many passions. She’s a Planner. She’s a Marketer. She’s a Wife. She’s a Mom.

A west coast girl at heart, Allyson arrived in Reno with a strong New York public relations agency background. Before founding Atypical, Allyson planned events for a large non-profit where she found her passion in special event management.  From golf tournaments to live auctions, Allyson has helped raised over one million dollars in one night. Finding an itch to do more, she started planning weddings on the side and this is where Atypical came to life - a way to combine all her passions.

Allyson holds a B.A. from Baylor University as a Communication Specialist. Her background includes working directly with tourism and lifestyle clients, nonprofits and of course, brides.  Her portfolio ranges from media relations and reputation management to social media marketing and emerging media. Her career has landed her clients in the pages of Food & Wine and Travel & Leisure as well as landing herself on the streets of New York City conducting marketing stunts for her clients.

Allyson has a “think big” attitude while maintaining a focus to detail and client service. Her diverse background in film, photography, graphic design, writing and client communication brings an extra level of service to the Atypical team.

Outside the office, you’ll find Allyson planning her next adventure with her husband, son and dog, Coco. She’s an avid traveler, runner, lover of wine and coffee and attempts to be an outdoor enthusiast despite her Orange County upbringing.

Leah St. Marie
Managing Director

Although Leah is a transplant to Reno, by way of Wisconsin and Connecticut, she quickly embraced the ‘Home Means Nevada’ mindset – she loves the High Sierra landscape (the climate too!), the “Biggest Little City” feel to the community, and everything in between.

Leah holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Wesleyan University as well as a Master of Social Work degree with a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. When she moved to Reno, Leah decided to explore another area in which she has a passion – enter events! In addition to her educational background in social work and nonprofit management, during the last four or so years Leah has coordinated countless social, corporate, and non-profit events. She has been responsible for all aspects of events including planning and execution. Atypical enables her to merge her social work/nonprofit and her event planning experience and expertise.

When she isn’t working, Leah can be found adventuring with her husband and their dog, Virgil; running half marathons; or shopping ‘til she drops. Leah is a self-proclaimed foodie and beer enthusiast. She loves exploring Reno’s growing food and beer scene.
