President + Owner
President and Founder Allyson Bolton is a woman of many passions. She’s a Planner. She’s a Marketer. She’s a Wife. She’s a Mom.
A west coast girl at heart, Allyson arrived in Reno with a strong New York public relations agency background. Before founding Atypical, Allyson planned events for a large non-profit where she found her passion in special event management. From golf tournaments to live auctions, Allyson has helped raised over one million dollars in one night. Finding an itch to do more, she started planning weddings on the side and this is where Atypical came to life - a way to combine all her passions.
Allyson holds a B.A. from Baylor University as a Communication Specialist. Her background includes working directly with tourism and lifestyle clients, nonprofits and of course, brides. Her portfolio ranges from media relations and reputation management to social media marketing and emerging media. Her career has landed her clients in the pages of Food & Wine and Travel & Leisure as well as landing herself on the streets of New York City conducting marketing stunts for her clients.
Allyson has a “think big” attitude while maintaining a focus to detail and client service. Her diverse background in film, photography, graphic design, writing and client communication brings an extra level of service to the Atypical team.
Outside the office, you’ll find Allyson planning her next adventure with her husband, son and dog, Coco. She’s an avid traveler, runner, lover of wine and coffee and attempts to be an outdoor enthusiast despite her Orange County upbringing.
Amy is the Atypical Managing Director. A big-picture thinker, she helps oversee strategy and overall event production to ensure events are planned and executed with superior quality and attention to detail.
A native Nevadan, Amy comes from a background in marketing and public relations. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with an emphasis in advertising and a minor in marketing from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Amy’s experience in public relations and marketing includes working with clients in the tourism and travel industries across the state and beyond. As an advocate for our region, she has helped welcome companies as they relocate or expand to the Reno area with groundbreaking and grand opening events from the dust at the world’s largest industrial center, Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center, to the heart of downtown Reno.
A lover of the outdoors, Amy enjoys the Reno-Tahoe region to the fullest each season. On any given weekend, you might find her hiking, snowshoeing, enjoying a beach or camping with her husband, son and dog, Lloyd.
